Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American television journalist, commentator anchor and commentator for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career working as a TV and radio reporter for Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. Mitchell was a reporter at the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) located which was based in Washington DC. In the following two years, she joined NBC News as a Washington reporter. 1980 began her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the chief congressional journalist. In 1992, she was named chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 was appointed chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell hosted and was panelists on the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell joined the panel of the 1988 presidential debates in which George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan a former chairman the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell won the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 for her work in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began reporting on for the White House in 1981-1988, in both the Reagan presidency. She covered many notable issues, such as the weapons control, the budget tax and the Iran Contra scandal. She also traveled to numerous summits in the company of President Reagan with Mikhail Gorbachev.
